Tyres rarely fail without warning. Spotting the signs early keeps you safe and legal, and often saves money in the long run. If any of these sound familiar, it is worth having them looked at.

Low tread depth

The UK legal minimum is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre. As you approach it, wet grip drops sharply and a replacement is due.

Cracks, cuts or bulges

Splits in the sidewall, visible cuts or a bulge can signal internal damage. These carry a real blowout risk and should never be ignored.

Vibration or pulling

Steering that shakes at speed, or a car that drifts to one side, can point to uneven wear, a balancing issue or a damaged tyre.

Age and uneven wear

Even with tread left, rubber hardens with age, and wear that is heavier on one edge usually means an alignment or pressure problem worth checking.
